About Us

St Mary's Village Hall is a stunning Village Hall set in the historic surroundings of St Mary Park, Stannington.

Steeped in history and located within a Grade II listed Park and Garden, the Hall is located in the former St Mary's Hospital Chapel, which dates back to the early 1900s, and has been fully restored to its original charm. Inside the hall, the original parquet flooring can be seen in all its glory, alongside a sketch of Winston Churchill found during demolition work that took place on other parts of the site.

Since its official opening in 2018, the Hall has played host to a number of events such as Yoga classes, Pilates and a Youth Club.

The Hall is unique in the fact it is one of very few new village halls, and as such, a dedicated board of volunteers known as trustees put themselves forward to help operate and effectively manage the hall, as well as raise the required funds to keep it running and purchase necessary equipment. The trustees aren't paid for their role, but all share the same vision; to make St Mary Park and the surrounding area a thriving community and a great place to live.

Going forward, it is hoped the hall will become the hub of the local community. However, this can't happen without help from others across the wider community. The hall is always on the lookout for volunteers to help out with a range of tasks, including organising parties, working on the bar, running kid's activities and more. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch.
